canon rangefinder

My Canon A35 F classic rangefinder camera has an excellent optical performance and automatic exposure settings. The only manual settings is the ISO setting and the focusing range. With the coupled rangefinder you can bring two images together inside the middle of the viewfinder for proper distance. As the lowest setting is 1/60 sec. at f/2.8 it is not your camera for night or sunset pictures. Despite of that it is an eminent camera with built in flash. The flash pops up when pressing a button on the back of the camera. The Canon A35 has manual film advance and spooling. It is possible to make an AE-lock when pressing the shutter release half way down. It means that you can measure the light at the place you want on the object and then keep the settings when moving the camera afterwards. The shutter and film advance on the Canon A35 is very silent and smooth. It makes the Canon A35 a good choice at places where a SLR camera is too heavy, noisy and visible. See link to specifications below. I found my Canon A35 F on the used market for a bargain price.

canon rangefinders
Produced from 1958 to 1961, the P was among Canon's last screw mount rangefinders, a modification of the VI-L. Incorporating many features into an attractively priced package, the P was Canon's best selling screw mount rangefinder until the Canon 7. About 100,000 were produced. Like all but the earliest Canon Rangefinders, it uses the Leica Screw Mount, falling into a larger class of "Leica Copies." Leica screw mount lenses or Canon screw mount lenses (and indeed ANY Leica Screw mount lens made by any maker) can be used. Black paint Leica mount Canon Rangefinders like this beautiful P are very rare. Very few were made to begin with, fewer survived in this condition. Probably only a few hundred black P's were produced. The top deck is blessed with a large comfortable advance lever, a very large clearly marked shutter speed dial that even today M6 should envy, and a self setting exposure counter. Turning the shutter speed collar allows the film to be rewound. Looking through the viewfinder is a breeze. It's bright with a slight blueish colour. An aperture scale and the meter needle is visible on the right side. You focus by turning the focussing ring until the central part of the viewfinder image matches with the mirrored second image.
