Fine gilt metal and mother-of-pearl opera glasses with handle made by "Iris Paris". Company mark on both eyepieces. Intact optics. "Iris" was among the most famous manufacturers and opticians. Such opera glasses were used as decorative evening-wear accessories during the 18th and 19th centuries, being useful for viewing the action of the play, opera or concert. Condition: very good. This nice MOTHER OF PEARL pair of opera glasses are in VERY GOOD PLUS condition with clear lenses and pearl eyepieces signed LEFILS PARIS - MUST SEE PICS! Eyepieces unsrew for cleaning/maintenance, corresponding strut/divider signed stamped 'France' - see close-up. Beautiful pair of vintage opera glasses measure an eighth inch under four @ wide end and about 3.5 inches @ eyepiece end. Fully extended they measure a hair over 2.75 inches.
