Established in 1995, Guanghi Optical Instrument Co., Ltd. is a joint stock China gitzo tripod manufactuer and designer engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of a wide variety of Optical Instrument and products. Our products are widely applied in the education of students, research in lab, entertainment and science explore. The Explorer incorporates many innovative ideas in tripod design; individually locking legs that can be fixed at any angle from 0° to 90° and a column that will tilt from the vertical, right over beyond the horizontal and lock solidly at any angle. A swivel at the lock on the column lets you position the angled column over a leg for stability, or between the spread legs to shoot straight down onto the floor. As the name suggests the Explorer is aimed at photographers working in the field, it is quick to use, rugged in construction and innovative in design. Whatever the type of photography you do, the Explorer will help you to discover new ways of using a tripod, it will hold your camera steady in places you might never have thought of and let you capture pictures previously beyond your horizons.The Explorer is available in a three-section aluminium tripod code G2220, finished in the traditional silver-grey Gitzo paint. The Aluminium version has a maximum height of 162 cm (64 inches) and a weight of 2.20 kg (4.90 lbs); it has a maximum recommended load of 6 kg (13 lbs). The minimum height from ground level is a record for tripods in this category, only 5 cm (11.5 inches).

When Gitzo launched the Mountaineer tripods in 1994, they were the world's first carbon fiber tripods. Since then, they've set the standard for performance and quality. The main feature of the range is the 6X carbon fiber tube - made of a unique structure of 6 crossed layers that maximizes rigidity, vibration absorption, and lightweight performance. 6X tubes have a high density structure made of top quality ultra-thin carbon fibers (7m or 0.007 mm). Built-in Anti Leg Rotation is now a feature of the whole carbon fiber range. Mountaineer tripods have been further improved with features and details that increase performance, versatility, and quality. G-Lock is a leg locking system that increases system rigidity by 20%, and allows quicker and stronger leg locking. Gitzo has added a solid machined aluminum upper disc with a new Safe Lock material that cuts vibration, and improves grip between the tripod and the head. The upper disc is totally new. The upper disc can also be fitted directly to the upper casting by removing the center column for ground level photography or to save weight. The 1/4"-3/8" reversible screw has been redesigned for more reliable functionality.
